Men's First Team

Another 2-1 win makes it 7 in a row

Trying Athletic vs Wormley Rovers SSML Saturday 14th September 2024
The sun was out as we faced Tring Athletic and the boys started well stretching the opponents back four on three occasions in the first ten minutes and despite a couple of breaks in play for what looked like two good tackles which got the home crowd screaming from Louis Offer we continued getting it down and trying to pass the ball around. Some clever interplay saw Connor Scully try to turn just outside the area and get fouled. Free kick to The Worms superbly struck low into the bottom corner by Reece Mosanya 0-1 13 mins.
We continued to press and looked more likely to build on our lead before Josh Asiedu was challenged in the penalty area and all our players close screamed for a penalty but the Refereee waved it away four passes later it was 1-1, a clever ball inside the full back put their winger in to smash the ball home 1-1 33 mins
Tring had a good spell for five or so minutes after that testing our back four but we played our way back into the game and a delicious through ball from Reiss Webber to Ibs Kehinde saw Ibs slot home 1-2 44 mins
Second half was a half devoid of real quality where we always looked dangerous but only really created one or two moments where it looked like we would score, one of those fell to substitute Charlie Hill where he just couldn’t sort his feet out after a good initial save from the home keeper. Tring kept pushing and put our back four under a lot of pressure, often getting first contact on corners and one free kick Carlos done well to fingertip around the post. It was a nail biting end to the game really and another couple of injuries picked up but overall we definitely deserved to win, we kept our cool when their were some strange decisions given and saw the game out. 1-2 96 mins
Great credit to Ryan, his management team and the whole squad for producing their seventh win in seven games a great feat at any level of football. No resting we got a big home game against Cockfosters on Tuesday which will be another big test. #COYW
