Saturday’s game was a historic day for the club playing our first league game at step 5 and the players were not overawed by the occasion. We started off very well and our passing game particularly in and around final third was very good creating a few half chances before some very neat passing through midfield saw the ball fall to Josh Asiedu just inside the penalty area to the left of the D and he smashed the ball into the top corner, 25 minutes gone, 1-0 to the Worms.
Unfortunately, our lead only lasted a couple of minutes as a short pass out from our keeper Carlos fell to the feet of the Crawly Green forward who slotted home 1-1 and it took the wind out of our sails a bit. We kept pressing and continued to look the better team hitting the bar before half time but no real big chances to speak of. The second half was a gritty affair with plenty of endeavour from both sides without too much quality on show and the really hot day took its toll on a few of the players and despite having the better of the game it took a very good save from Carlos in the last few minutes to secure our first point at step 5.
Full Time 1-1 No time to ponder we visit Harpenden Town on Tuesday night.
