Welcome everyone to The Lane today for Gladwish Challenge Trophy fixture vs. Redbourn FC.
Firstly I would like to offer a warm welcome to the players officials and supporters of Redbourn FC who arrive in a good run of form.
To say we have had a tough five weeks is an understatement and we have found it hard to get on a run of good form or get the same team out two games running which affects performance levels the frustration for all of us is that in the first half against Risbrough Rangers arguably the best side in the division we matched them and crated four good chances then a last man sending off just before half time changes the whole dynamic of the game and we get heavily beaten in the second half 5-1. Heavy defeats at Harpenden and Baldock Town in the league followed and a draw at Kempston where we created so many chances we could have won two games to be honest with an FA Vase penalty victory against Eynesbury Rovers at home after a 1-1 draw in the middle of that. We played well but mistakes cost us we lost to AFC Welwyn 3-2 in a great game for the neutral. Saturday saw us host Arlesey Town in torrential rain but credit to both sides, they both tried to play good football. We run out comfortable 2-0 winners and hope this is a start of a good run of form.
Delighted to say we have improved our social media coverage and thanks to the media team for all their hard work on that, if you get a chance follow us on Instagram and X. The TVs in the clubhouse give you all the information you need about getting involved in a small or in a big way, your call.
Thank you as always to all our sponsors particularly ALM, Usdaw, Harrison Hayes and Robyland who have again stepped up this year and to all our pitchside sponsors thank you so much for your support. Still time to get involved if you would like to sponsor a player, a match ball or even get involved in our bonus ball for £2 a week there are lots of ways you can help the club going forward, please just ask any of the committee.
Lastly we are looking to run a coach for Saturday’s visit to White Ensign in the FA Vase so shout if you want a seat.
Hope you enjoy the game and thanks for your support COYW.
