Men's First Team

Away vs Winslow Utd

A hot afternoon saw us travel to Buckinghamshire to face unbeaten Winslow Utd. Two more full debuts for the first team and five changes from last weeks side due to injuries saw us start nervously as a barrage of long balls put us on the back foot for the opening half an hour. The hosts winger curled a great shot onto the cross bar before we started to pass the ball around in the final third. Early substitution Josh off Ibs on 22 mins.
After a couple of near misses some good interplay saw Connor round the keeper and get fouled, penalty to us and no yellow card for the keeper. 42 mins.
A poor penalty in truth from Connor saw the keeper make a save and from his long kick downfield a corner resulted where we defended first cross but not the second and their right back headed home. 0-1 down 44 mins
We started the second half much better and dominated the ball looking dangerous every time we attacked although our hosts were dangerous on the break. Fresh legs freshened us up with Reece and Cormac coming on for Connor and Lee and a wonderful header from the edge of the area from Ibs gave us a well deserved equaliser. 1-1 75 mins.
We pressed for a winner with just the final ball letting us down before heartbreakingly in the 88th minute a cross into the hosts box was cleared up the pitch for the number 10 arguably their best player to fire home from 25 yards. 1-2.
Despite a valiant effort Winslow saw out the win and we were left licking our wounds. Shout out to Chez Isaac’s first game for club in eighteen years when a very young youth player. No time to dwell on the loss as we are at home on Tuesday to London Lions.
