Dominant Season Opener.
We kicked off our campaign today with an emphatic 5-1 victory against newly promoted Frontiers FC. Determined to put last season’s FA Cup disappointment behind us, we did just that with a commanding performance at home.
The match saw league debuts for Emily Schofield, Georgina Gosnell, and Holly Fox, and the team wasted no time getting off the mark. Chelise Fleming opened the scoring with a composed, slotted finish to give us an early lead.
Emily Schofield quickly doubled our advantage with a well-taken free kick and later added another in unusual fashion, scoring directly from a corner. The opposing goalkeeper, caught off guard, fumbled the ball into her own net, extending our lead to 3-0.
Frontiers FC responded shortly after with a superb half-volley from the edge of the box. Unfortunately, despite Hebborn’s best efforts, the ball found the top corner, making it 3-1.
However, Fleming restored our three-goal cushion with a powerful strike from distance, sending us into the break with a 4-1 lead and full control of the game.
The second half saw us make two changes and adjust our formation, further unsettling the visitors. Chelise Fleming completed her hat trick, weaving through two defenders before cheekily finishing at the near post, bringing the final score to 5-1.
Special mention goes to Savannah Japal, whose crucial contributions both in attack and defense, along with two assists, were instrumental in today’s result.
Finally, we extend our best wishes to the Frontiers player who sustained an injury in the second half and wish them a speedy recovery.
