Wormley continued their impressive winning streak with a commanding 3-1 victory over Romford. The home side dominated possession from the outset, creating a plethora of chances that showcased their attacking prowess.
The deadlock was broken in the first half when Emily Schofield’s corner was expertly headed home by Holly Fox, adding to her goal tally. Shortly after, Georgina Gosnell doubled the lead with a stunning curling effort into the top left corner after receiving a clever set-up from Aimee Burling.
Despite Wormley’s dominance, they conceded a goal against the run of play when a Romford corner led to a defensive lapse, allowing Romford to head home and narrow the deficit to 2-1 at halftime.
The second half saw Wormley continue to create opportunities but struggle to convert. Emily Schofield saw chances saved, Rachel Daltrey saw a tame effort easily cleared & Savannah Japal with some teasing balls into the box which narrowly evaded the forwards.
The final goal of the match came after some intricate build-up play, Ciara Purdue delivered a perfectly timed through ball to Fox, who found the net again to secure her second goal of the game.
Wormley showcased a much-improved performance in the second half, maintaining their control of the game and keeping Romford at bay. A 3-1 victory may not have reflected the chances created however it puts another 3 points on the board as the ladies continue their excellent form.
Next week, Wormley will travel to face Stanway Pegasus, aiming to maintain their momentum in the league.
