Really strong first half display from our hosts rewarded with an 8th minute goal a clever ball slipped in behind the full back saw their winger slot the ball home. 8 mins 1-0
This boosted the home side and they were first to nearly every ball and giving us problems at the back with their pace and trickery particularly the wide players one of whom struck an absolute worldy of a strike which was flying into the top corner before Carlos sprung out of nowhere to tip the ball over the bar. 25 mins 1-0
We had moments in the half but were either shooting from just too far out or not quite getting that final pass right but collectively as a team defended corners and free kicks really well and although Colney Heath had the better of the half we were still in the game. Half time 45 mins 1-0
We seemed to have a lot more energy in our play after the break pushing Colney back and working their back four a lot more, suddenly it was us winning corners and putting them under pressure. A dynamic run from Josh Asiedu saw him beat two defenders and pull the ball back for the onrushing Reece Barrett to get the ball over the line amongst a throng of players, Referees assistants flag went up, goal given 1-1 72 mins
The players had grown into the game so much and at this point there was only going to be one winner, we pushed and pushed and corner after corner lead to half chances before a delicious ball from Reece Mosanya into Finbar King which he started second favourite for, saw his strength hold off the defender and smash the ball home into the top corner. Great finish from a player that is on a scoring streak right now three appearances for the club off the bench and three important goals in a week, two of them match winning goals. 1-2 86 mins
Colney Heath threw everything at us in the next ten minutes or so and despite having to defend a number of corners we saw the game out final score 1-2 95mins
Great game with a great result for the lads coming to unbeaten Colney Heath and deservedly taking all three points.
Quick word about the Colney Heath committee, top drawer, great people, so hospitable and proper football people a pleasure to meet them.
Biggleswade away on Saturday for us next looking to extend this amazing run.
