Men's First Team

King scores again to make it 4 wins in a row

The team started really well and it was clear the opposition could not figure out where the midfield runners were coming from given the swapping of positions our back four and midfield players were doing, we definitely looked the more dangerous but it was clear our opponents carried an attacking threat. A number of near misses came and went until another good passing move saw Josh Asieudu break through toe the ball past the keeper and the keeper fouled him and a penalty was given. Ibs passed the ball into the net 29 mins 0-1

The Biggleswade keeper was then immediately sinbinned for something he said to the referee so they were down to ten men for ten minutes. A good save from the outfield player from a free kick but despite trying to take advantage of the extra man we couldn’t add to our advantage. A couple of other half chances before half time and one exceptional first time passing move was flagged for offside as George Beattie finished it, no goal offside. 45 mins 0-1

We started the second half well but it was clear Biggleswade had been given a rollicking they were very combative and started to play in patches of the game but it was a break from them, when a looped header that Carlos did not have clear site of dropped out of his hands and their striker knocked it home. 62 mins 1-1

The team reacted superbly and stayed composed, should have had a penalty when Kaidyn was fouled in the area, Josh`s effort brought a quality save from their keeper and we looked much more likely to score. A couple of substitutions freshened things up again and Finbar King came on and his hold up play was excellent and lo and behold he does what Fin does and again after a good passing move he moved the ball to his left and smashed the ball home from twelve yards out. 81 mins 1-2

The last ten minutes as expected we had to defend well but were good value for our three points. Our hosts were gracious in defeat but were not happy with the referee. Chairman at Bigglesade Guillem Balague was charming and a brilliant host and said some really nice things to say about our team and how we had played. We played some great football and have set some high standards amongst the group now, this was a real squad performance and was an outstanding watch. Four wins in four for the lads now and a SSML league cup match next week at home (seems ages) vs Irchester United from the SSML division 1
